Chris Sutton fires Celtic complacency warning as he shuts down Robbie Savage's confident title claim

Chris Sutton has warned Celtic that they cannot think the title race is over after Robbie Savage declared it done and dusted.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are nine points clear of Rangers at the top of the Premiership table. Their rivals are struggling to put wins together and manager Gio van Bronckhorst is coming under increasing pressure with their neighbours seemingly running away with the league.

However, with three Old Firm clashes still to take place this season and Celtic due to visit Ibrox on 2 January. Sutton is warning his former club not to get complacent when it comes to clinching a second title in succession after missing the chance to lift ten-in-a-row before Postecoglou was appointed. Sutton and Savage were hosting the 606 Football Phone In on BBC when Savage insisted that the championship was heading to Parkhead once again in May. But Sutton refused to count his chickens just yet.

“Celtic. Title’s over, Chris. Nine points, done.” Said Savage.

Sutton replied: “If you’re a Celtic player and Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, [you] cannot think like that.”

When a caller then rang in to agree with Savage’s assertion, Sutton cautioned: “You’re saying the league’s over right now? That’s still a big call.”
