Chris Stark will join Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast later this year when he departs Radio 1 alongside co-host Scott Mills.
The broadcaster and producer said he couldn't wait to get started with Roman this autumn earlier today, following Friday's announcement he and Scott would be leaving the BBC's flagship youth station at the end of August.
Scott's move to Radio 2 was also announced over the weekend, with the long-serving Radio 1 DJ taking over from Steve Wright in the weekday afternoon slot in September.
Chris's future endeavors hadn't been revealed prior to this morning's announcement, but it had been confirmed that he wouldn't be following Scott 'over the road' to Radio 2.
Speaking on Monday's show - where he stressed he hadn't been fired - Scott explained how he and Chris had tried to continue their on-air partnership but can't for various reasons.
He added that Chris had some exciting projects in pipeline but couldn't say what at the time.
Today it was revealed that Chris is joining Global, the Media & Entertainment group, this autumn after hosting his final show with Scott in August.
The popular star joins as Creative Executive Producer and presenter on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp. He also takes up a new role in Global’s growing podcast division, with the remit of developing sport content for Global Player.
"I couldn’t be more excited to be joining Global, working across a variety of amazing projects," Chris said in a statement as the news was shared.
"I’ve known Roman a long time and often joked over a beer it’d be great to work together on something big one day - and now here we are!
"I cannot wait to get started on Capital Breakfast and in my new Creative Executive Producer role. Let’s make some moments!"
"And then to be asked to lead on Global Player’s sport podcast content is just the icing on the cake."
Capital Breakfast's Roman welcomed his new colleague to the team, saying: "Sian, Sonny and I are super excited to have Chris on board.
"I just know he’ll be a huge hit with our listeners, and I’m sure everyone will join us in giving him the warmest of welcomes to the Capital Breakfast family!"
Chris and Scott's pending departure from Radio 1 was announced on Friday as part of a major BBC shake-up that will see Scott take over Steve Wright's weekday afternoon slot on Radio 2.
In the wake of Scott's career news being made public on Friday, a whole host of fans, colleagues and celebrities paid tribute to the long-serving broadcaster's stint on the beeb's flagship youth station.
"Scott is the reason I fell in love with Radio 1 and I really think he’s the best that’s ever done it," Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James told his Instagram followers, while Jordan North added: "I couldn’t agree more, scott is the best of the best."
Rylan - who hosts a weekend show on Radio 2 - welcomed Scott to his new radio family on Twitter, writing: "We will miss you Steve!!!!
"Linda is happy we’re still getting Sunday love songs (her fave show cough cough) sending you all the love. And welcome to my euro hubby @scott_mills !!!!! I’m gonna bully you loads xxxx."
