Chris Paul celebrated Warriors trade in grand Splash Brothers fashion

It’s well documented that Chris Paul was on a flight to New York when the Golden State Warriors acquired him in a trade with the Washington Wizards. Paul was heading to the East Coast to make a guest appearance on Good Morning America to promote his new book.

When speaking on a recent episode of ‘Run Your Race,‘ Theo Pinson revealed how he was at a shootaround with Chris Paul shortly after he landed in New York. Pinson also noted that once the veteran guard found out he’d been dealt to the Warriors, he began shooting multiple deep-range shots.

“We hoopin’ or whatever… I’m just sitting on the sideline, and I was on my phone just scrolling,” Pinson said. “I see Chris get traded on Instagram and I’m looking at Chris and he’s hooping and I’m like this dude going to the Warriors and he has no idea…Little Chris came and told his dad he going to the Warriors… Chris’ a** start pulling from half court and hitting shots and s**t. I said, ‘Oh you a splash bro now huh!”

Last season, the Warriors ranked second in the NBA for 3-point percentage, shooting 38.7% as a team on 32.6 attempts per game. Paul shot 37.5% from deep on 4.4 attempts per night. As such, Paul should have no problem slotting into Golden State’s perimeter-heavy offense.

However, the Warriors may need to alter their offensive system if they want to get the best out of Paul, as he’s at his best when orchestrating the offense as a primary ball-handler.

The Warriors have been quick to revamp their guard rotation this summer, bringing in Paul and Cory Joseph since the offseason began. Now, the front office will turn their attention toward adding some size to their frontcourt before making another push for an NBA championship.
