Chris Kamara's friend has revealed he is doing well after he worried fans over the weekend with his 'slurred' speech.
The former footballer and TV presenter left fans concerned as he presented Soccer Saturday this weekend, covering the League One match between Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town.
After his stint on the show, he was flooded with concern from fans, who were worried he wasn't well. He later revealed his change in speaking was due to the condition, apraxia of speech.
And now Steph McGovern has updated people on his health as she hosted Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch today.
At the top of the show, she said: "Talking about football, our Kammy has been in the news over the weekend. He was back commentating on the football, of course, on Soccer Saturday and some viewers were concerned about his slurred speech.
"Just to explain what Apraxia of Speech is, someone who has it knows what they want to say but they have trouble getting their lips, tongue or jaw to move in the proper way to actually say it."
She added: "As you know, Kammy's a good mate of mine and a really important friend of the show too and lots of you have been messaging to ask about him. I've been talking to him regularly over the weekend and he is ok."
"His brilliant family are all supporting him and of course, we wish him all the best."
Following his TV appearance at the weekend, Chris took to social media to explain why his speech seemed to be affected.
"Just wanted to let a few of you know who tweeted me today that I am ok ish," he tweeted. "Alongside my Thyroid problem I have developed Apraxia of Speech & have been working to get my speech back to normal.
"Some days it can be a little slow and some days it’s normal. Hopefully I can beat this!"
And earlier today, Chris admitted live TV may have to "take a back seat" for a while for him.
"Thank you so much to everyone for your best wishes. Twitter can be a wonderful platform," he said in a message shared with his fans online, "The response about my Apraxia has been overwhelming. Unfortunately for you viewers this is not the end of me but “Live TV” might have to take a back seat at the moment. Thank you."
