Chris Kamara confirms Ninja Warrior will be returning with a twist

Popular game show Ninja Warrior is set to return, its host has confirmed.

After a five-series run on ITV, Ninja Warrior was thought to be long gone after it was axed in 2020 but it appears the show is getting a new lease of life. Based on the Japanese show Sasuke, several contestants face off across a tough and demanding obstacle course with only one challenger ever completing it in its entirety.

Former footballer turned presenter Chris Kamara appeared on GMB to share news of the revival along with some big changes to the format. "I'm so excited," Kamara said. "We thought it was finished, it wasn't coming back, but have faith... You know all the families talk to us about Ninja, it's family entertainment.

"They sit down together as a family and watch the toughest obstacle course in the world, and after five series we thought we would go forever. But then it stopped." He added: "But now we're back!"

The new series will see ordinary people face off against an in house set of ninjas who just happen to be highly trained athletes. The show will also be looking for both a male and female winner this year, deviating from previous seasons.

What won't be changing is the presenting team with Chris Kamara, Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes and Tipping Point host Ben Humes all returning to their posts after fronting the show for seven years now. Kamara wasn't able to give an air date but the series usually airs throughout the summer.
