Australian actor Chris Hemsworth’s newly launched production company, Wild State, has landed a massive first-look deal with National Geographic.

The Thor star, 39, has teamed up with producer Ben Grayson on the new business which aims to make both scripted and unscripted content.

According to Variety, the pair already have unscripted projects in the works with NatGeo with a focus on producing adventure, exploration, travel and science programming.

Their new projects will eventually air on all National Geographic platforms as well as on Disney+.

Speaking about his new venture, Hemsworth shared in a statement with Grayson: “As lifelong fans of National Geographic, we are thrilled to be able to continue and deepen our partnership with them along with the entire Disney+ platform.”

“Wild State is dedicated to generating immersive narratives that both entertain and shine a light on important issues around the globe.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to tell highly impactful, important stories in the unscripted space backed by the support of the premier global conservation and environmental brand in Nat Geo.”

The news comes ahead of the Ghostbusters star’s new six-part series, Limitless, which will air later this year on Disney+ Originals.

The National Geographic-produced series will see Hemsworth travelling across the globe to explore six different techniques to prolong his life, such as building resilience, shocking the body, supercharging memory and confronting mortality.

Speaking about Limitless, Hemsworth joked that he volunteered to be a “human guinea pig” of sorts all “for the sake of science”.

He said in a statement when the show went into production in 2020: “Basically, I was somehow convinced to volunteer myself as a human guinea pig and endure a series of mental and physical challenges across the globe, all for the sake of science.

“We’re hoping to shed some light on new ideas and emerging science with the focus on extending a healthy life span. Production starts soon, so wish me luck.”

Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky and Jane Root served as executive producers on the health docuseries.

Aronofsky said at the time: “Limitless has the potential to improve people’s lives in simple, impactful ways, and we love Chris’ enthusiasm to be our tour guide.

“I look forward to reteaming with Nat Geo, Jane, and our friends from One Strange Rock on this next adventure.”
