Could Chris Godwin really have gotten to a Baker Mayfield Hail Mary if he had just looked up sooner?
That was the theory of many an NFL fan watching the end of the Buffalo Bills’ 24-18 win over Godwin’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as Mayfield threw a long pass that actually reached the end zone.
And frankly? It’s not a theory! You can see in the replay that Godwin ran into the end zone, turned around … and the ball was probably there sooner than he realized. He flailed at it, threw an arm out, but nope. It fell incomplete and the Bucs lost:
Man… Chris Godwin lowkey could’ve caught this if he was looking…

The Bills would be 3-5 right now if the refs didn't miss Pl against Darren Waller and Chris Godwin didn't have an awareness rating of -10000 pic.twitter.com/1A3jtsoYhu

An almost perfect Hail Mary play by Baker Mayfield and the Bucs to beat Buffalo… all Chris Godwin has to do is turn around a second earlier and locate the ball… that close omg 😳 #GoBucs
Tampa Bay loses instead in Buffalo and falls to 3-4 on the Season. Wow! pic.twitter.com/DwCGGY4v8f

Chris Godwin was INCHES away from a catching a walk-off Hail Mary. But he didn’t see it in time. Story of the Bucs season this year. pic.twitter.com/4Hq1qHu0BL
