Chris Evans has claimed that Donald Trump twice refused to work with him on a political education initiative.
Earlier this year, the Captain America actor launched A Starting Point, a video-based app which aims to help voters better understand the topical issues that affect them.
Politicians on the app can debate in short video form, as well as making clear their stance on issues such as education, immigration and health.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (29 October), Evans revealed that while more 200 elected officials had agreed to work with the app, Trump wasn’t so keen.
“We did [ask him], we had to. You’ve gotta do it,” he said.
“We asked him, he said no. He said no twice, and so I did my part.”
“President Trump said no to Captain America, just want to point that out for the record,” Kimmel joked in response.
Over the years, Evans has been a vocal critic of Trump’s, earlier this month blasting the president for telling people not to fear coronavirus after he tested positive for the disease.
“Don’t be afraid of Covid?!” the actor tweeted. “You’ve been under round-the-clock care by the best doctors using the best drugs. Do you really think everyone has access to that?!”
Last week, Evans also joined his Marvel co-stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Paul Rudd, at a fundraiser for Democratic nominees Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
