Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Been Close For April 26th Grudge Match

According to reports, Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn is set to be officially announced in the coming days for a middleweight clash on April 26 in London.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Set For April 26th

It has been reported by various sources that Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are now finalising a deal for their highly anticipated grudge match for later this year.

The pair were of course scheduled to fight back in October 2022, before Benn failed two performance enhancing drugs tests. Ever since, the pair have been back and forth over a rescheduled bout, and it now looks like that fight could be officially announced imminently.

Mike Coppinger of ESPN first broke the news on Monday afternoon that ‘Next Gen’ and ‘The Destroyer’ are finalising a deal for a fight in London, England on Saturday, April 26th.

The long-awaited British family grudge match is set to be contested at middleweight (160-pounds), with a ten pound rehydration clause of 170-pounds for the same-day weigh-in on fight night.

Just last week Eubank Jr’s promoter Ben Shalom had said that negotiations had reached crunch time, with fans now optimistic that the fight could actually be signed, sealed and delivered on April 26th once and for all.

As of yet, fans await an official announcement. A purse split is also yet to be confirmed, but if previous interviews and reports are to believed, then the purse will be split 55-45 in Chris Eubank Jr’s favour.

Could Eubank Jr vs Benn Headline Wembley Stadium On April 26th?

Given that the fight is still yet to be officially confirmed, fans are currently none the wiser as to the venue for this monumental Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn clash.

Given the star power of both men and the rich boxing history and rivalry of their father’s, the fight is one of the biggest in all of the UK outside of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. Besides that heavyweight contest, Eubank Jr vs Benn is by far the biggest possible fight in Britain right now.

For a fight of this magnitude, it simply has to take place in a stadium. Whether that be Wembley Stadium or another football ground remains to be seen, but if Mike Coppinger is to be believed, then it is most definitely headed for London.

This makes Wembley the obvious choice, with their schedule seemingly clear for that rumoured April 26th date. However, Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, has of course used other stadiums in London before for big fights.

Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so that could be another option for the bout. Not to mention other football stadiums like The Emirates, London Stadium or even the Brentford Community Stadium.

Wherever the fight takes place doesn’t really matter. As long as Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn face each other in the ring on April 26th, that’s all that matters. Keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement in the coming days and weeks.
