Chocolate, supplements and full list of food to bin this week as Irish supermarkets issue recalls

Several supermarkets in Ireland have pulled a number of food products from sale recently over safety fears.

Chocolate, supplements and Soya Lecithin are among the items that the Food Safety Authority of Ireland has issued urgent recall notices for.

Households are being encouraged to check their cupboards, fridges and freezers for the implicated batches, while shops have removed them for sale.

Any supermarkets that stocked the food items will have point of sale notices posted in their store and will give shoppers full refunds for returning the affected batches.

The FSAI explains: "Food alerts are notifications issued by the FSAI to official agencies and food businesses or other businesses relating to an identified hazard i.e. a biological, chemical or physical agent in, or condition of, food/food contact materials with the potential to cause an adverse health effect."

It has advised anyone with an affected product not to consume it.

Below are all of the current recall notices in effect:

An urgent recall notice has been issued for a popular box of chocolates sold in Ireland.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland on Monday warned about certain batches of Hotel Chocolat Caramel Milk Batons.

It said there are undeclared peanuts in some batches, which might make the treat unsafe for some to eat.

A spokesperson said: "The above batches of Hotel Chocolat Caramel Milk Batons may contain peanuts which are not declared in the list of ingredients.

"This may make the implicated batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts."

The affected batches have a pack size of 120g, batch codes 22286 and 22287, and best before dates of July 2023.

Hotel Chocolat has two outlets in Ireland - on Dublin's Henry Street and in Dundrum Town Centre - and is also sold online via its website.
