Cho Gue sung breaks Celtic transfer silence as South Korea star opens up on his post World Cup 'dream'

South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung has addressed speculation over a move to Celtic for the first time after returning from the World Cup.

Ange Postecoglou's side have been linked with a move for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors forward next month after the end of South Korea's World Cup campaign, which was ended by an impressive showing from Brazil in the knockout stages. The Celtic boss is reportedly among the 24-year-old's admirers with the January transfer window rapidly approaching, while doubts linger over the long term future of Giorgios Giakoumakis in Glasgow's east end.

The Greek striker could be sold next month with the player and club failing to agree new terms on a new contract, and it appears the Gue-sung would relish the opportunity to move to the Scottish Premiership. After jetting back from Qatar 2022, the striker was quizzed by Korean media alongside his international teammates during a press conference in the airport.

And he was asked about interest from Celtic. The frontman responded: "I haven't heard anything about European clubs. However, as a player, I naturally have a dream to go out on the world stage and face world-class players. Entering the European stage has been a dream since I was young. I want to go to any place where I can improve my skills and grow."
