Cho Gue-Sung breaks Celtic transfer silence as he names his ideal scenario amid January waiting game

Cho Gue-Sung insists he's still weighing up whether or not to proceed with a January transfer amid Celtic ramping up efforts to sign him - but England is his ultimate goal.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker is in-demand from the likes of Ange Postecoglou's side, Rangers, Mainz and Minnesota United after shining for South Korea at the World Cup last year. Celtic are believed to have offered a 50 per cent sell-on clause alongside their seven-figure cash sum in a bid to entice him away from the K-League but the forward himself is yet to hear anything in black and white.

He is still looking at whether it's better to go now or in the summer, but admits that the Premier League is a future goal after his next transfer. Gue-Sung told Naver: "I'm contemplating the timing of a European transfer while talking and communicating with director Park Ji-sung and coach Kim Sang-shik. I've seen many articles, but I haven't heard anything concrete yet.

"Not only me, but any player will have the same desire to go to Europe as soon as a good opportunity comes. It can be improved. Considering all aspects, we are thinking about how to do it most effectively.

"There are players who have to advance now within the team regarding the timing of the transfer, and there are players who have to prepare for the season together with the squad in the summer. They are all so different.

"In the end, I think that if you are a player, you set your final goal and go. All players will want to go to the EPL."
