Cho Gue sung addresses Celtic transfer truth while 3 alternative options emerge as striker recruitment drive ramps up

Celtic target Cho Gue-sung has broken his silence on talks with the Scottish champions as Ange Postecoglou ramps up his hunt for a new striker.

The South Korean World Cup star has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic and the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker has also been mentioned with a switch to Galatsaray, however his focus appears to be narrowing over his next move with clubs from across Europe tracking his progress. Speaking to Korean outlet KVN, Gue-sung was put on the spot about his next move and was quizzed on the prospect of a switch to the Scottish Premiership champions in the winter window.

The 24-year-old confessed talks have taken place between his representatives and Ange Postecoglou's men, stating: "Celtic have six Japanese players in its squad. As you can see there, it is a team that has invested heavily in the Asian market over the past few years and there have been talks."

However, he appeared to pour cold water on speculation over a move to Galatasaray, bluntly responding: "This is not true. There is no recruitment offer from this club in Turkey."

With Giorgos Giakoumakis being linked with a January move away from Parkhead a striker appears top of the Celtic shopping list for the January sales, with Bosnian frontman Said Hamulic named as a potential recruit. The 22-year-old's club Stal Mielec have opened the door for a move, with president Jacek Klimek admitting bids have already been received for their star man.

He told Sport 1: "Said Hamulic will probably leave us this winter. His transfer has not yet been agreed, but it will be difficult to keep him. We negotiate every day, we rejected a French club.

"We would like to keep him, but it won't be easy, especially since you see from time to time with Said that he is thinking somewhere else. We are expecting 2.5 million for him and we have already received a similar offer that could see the light of day soon."

Celtic have also been linked with a £6 million move for Swiss World Cup starlet Ardon Jashari, with Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt and Bundesliga high-fliers RB Leipzig also credited with an interest in the FC Luzern star. However, boss Mario Flick, expects the player to remain at the club beyond the winter window.

He said: "I was not informed either by the player himself or by our sports director Remo Meyer that there could be a change of club for Ardon soon. So that's why I'm assuming that he will play for us in the second half of the season. We need our best players and Ardon definitely falls into that category."

The Scottish table toppers have also been touted with a move for Baník Ostrava striker Ladislav Almasi with the Slovakian international also attracting interest from across Europe. However, boss Pavel Hapal insists the club have yet to receive an offer.

He stated: "I have spoken to Ladislav and the club of course. Based on that information, I believe he will remain with Banik after January. There have been no concrete offers for his transfer yet although we are aware of the speculation."
