A chippy owner has whipped up a 2,000-calorie festive feast of piling an entire Christmas dinner inside a giant nine-inch Yorkshire pudding - topped off with lashings of cranberry sauce and gravy. John Morrison unveiled the Yorkie Pudding dinner including turkey and all the trimmings at his takeaway Ca'Dora diner in Elgin, Scotland, and said feedback had been 'absolutely great'.
The £12 dinner, which comfortably serves two, includes a giant Yorkshire pudding that acts as a make-shift plate with a base layer of seasoned 'chippy' chips.
Piled on top is a belly-busting selection of roast pulled turkey or chicken, pigs in blankets, crispy smoked bacon, white pudding, salt and pepper Brussels sprouts served with cranberry sauce and gravy. For those with room to spare, the 44-year-old has also whipped up £3.50 festive-themed milkshakes to wash it all down - including bacon and cranberry offerings or a mince pie and salted caramel one.
Despite the colossal meal containing the daily recommended calorie intake for a woman, the dad-of-three insists it's 'a lot healthier' as apart from the fried chips, everything else is cooked in an airfryer.
John said: "The dinner is festive, it gets into the spirit of Christmas.
"It's really hearty. I originally thought it would serve one person.
"Some people may be able to eat it, but for me it would be a two-person thing.
"For the price it's ideal for a two-person meal, especially the way the climate is as well.
"The turkey and chicken is done in an airfryer. It's a lot healthier as apart from the chips that are fried, the rest is airfried."
John, who's regularly concocting new meals to serve from his store, said he was inspired to create it after being tagged in a similar meal online - but elevated it by adding different ingredients.
Food-lover John said: "Somebody tagged me in a post [on social media].I thought 'that's a great idea' so I created a different one.
"The one I was tagged in looked ok but it didn't have the best ingredients so for me it was a case of making it a bit better with better and more ingredients.
"We've also started serving milkshakes as part of the festive menu - a bacon and cranberry milkshake and a mince pie and salted caramel one.
"We've done bacon ice-cream before so I thought I'd do the milkshake now.
"The bacon one is really weird, but it's really nice.
"Customer feedback has been absolutely great, I've probably made more work than ever for myself this week."
