What’s new: China has shortened the time inbound travelers must quarantine to seven days of mandatory isolation at a centralized facility followed by three days of observation at home.
The State Council, China’s cabinet, released an updated version of Covid-19 disease control rules Tuesday, relaxing the requirements from two weeks of isolation and seven days of home observation.
The quarantine time for the close contacts of Covid cases inside China has also been shortened to the same requirement as inbound travelers.
The background: China has been relaxing its anti-Covid border controls recently as the pandemic eases globally. In mid-June, China began to issue work and family visit visas to citizens of more than a dozen countries — including the U.S., France and Singapore — after a roughly two-year suspension.
