China is commemorating the 75th anniversary of Communist Party rule with a flag-raising ceremony and an honor guard march at Tiananmen Square. The anniversary comes amidst economic challenges and security threats facing the nation.

Despite the lack of festivities, state-controlled media in China have highlighted the country's economic progress and social stability, omitting mention of issues such as a declining birth rate and disruptions in supply chains.

Commemorations were also held in Hong Kong and Macao, territories that returned to Chinese sovereignty in the late 1990s. Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed determination to strengthen cooperation with Russia, which was the first country to recognize the People’s Republic of China 75 years ago.

China's economy has been grappling with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, including a property slump that has affected various sectors. To boost the economy, China recently announced measures such as lower interest rates and reduced down payment requirements for mortgages.

Xi Jinping, who has consolidated power within the Communist Party, emphasized the need for vigilance and unity to overcome challenges. He warned of potential obstacles ahead but expressed confidence in the Chinese people's ability to progress.

Internationally, China faces tensions with neighboring countries over territorial disputes and its rivalry with the United States. The nation's military buildup and recent missile tests have raised concerns about potential conflicts in the region.

Xi's leadership, marked by the removal of term limits, has solidified his position as the de facto leader for an indefinite period. China's political landscape remains tightly controlled by the Communist Party, with limited media freedom and no competitive elections.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Xi Jinping and reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Russia and China, pledging to enhance cooperation in various fields.
