China imposes 34% tariff on imports of all U.S. products starting April 10

U.S. President Donald Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping

New Delhi: China will impose a 34% tariff on all U.S. imports starting April 10, mirroring the U.S. rate set under President Donald Trump’s new "Liberation Day" tariffs.

Beijing also tightened export controls on rare earths, critical for high-tech manufacturing, and blacklisted 27 U.S. firms for trade sanctions.

Sixteen companies, including defense tech firm High Point Aerotechnologies and logistics giant Universal Logistics Holding, face bans on dual-use exports.

China filed a WTO lawsuit against the U.S., calling Trump’s tariffs "unilateral bullying" that violates global trade rules.

The move follows China’s earlier 15% tariff on U.S. coal and LNG, plus 10% duties on crude oil, farm equipment, and large-engine vehicles.

The Finance Ministry confirmed the new tariffs apply universally to all American-made goods.
