China has urged all parties involved to exercise restraint in the wake of Moscow's use of a nuclear-capable ballistic missile in an attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The strike was a response to Ukraine targeting Russia with longer-range missiles supplied by the US, UK, and France.
During a regular press conference, a spokesperson for China's foreign ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining calmness and promoting dialogue to de-escalate the situation. China reiterated its stance that the crisis in Ukraine should be resolved through political means to prevent further escalation.
NATO has previously accused China of supporting Russia's military actions against Ukraine by providing dual-use goods that bolster Russia's defense sector. However, China has denied these allegations, stating that it strictly controls the export of such goods.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have strengthened their relationship in recent years, particularly since the onset of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
