Chile's diplomatic mission in Venezuela has returned to its country. The Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Alberto Claveren and Interior Minister Carolina Toha welcomed the Chilean ambassador to Venezuela, Jaime Gazmuri, and the diplomatic personnel back to Santiago de Chile after being expelled by the Venezuelan government.
The expulsion order was issued by the government of President Nicolás Maduro in response to questions raised about the official results of the presidential elections in Venezuela that took place on July 28. This decision led to the expulsion of diplomats not only from Chile but also from other Latin American countries.
