Our children should not be the victims of the cost of living crisis because their parents cannot afford food or heating.

Nearly four million children live in poverty in homes without enough money to pay for a hot meal. Some kids skip meals entirely.

This is why the Daily Mirror is calling on the Government to provide free school meals for every primary pupil in England.

Free school meals for all primary-age children would save parents vital pennies – money which could pay for warm clothes, school activities or heating.

It would cut the bureaucracy and the stigma attached to pupils having free school meals. Most importantly, it would give every child the chance to flourish.

A country which boasted of its military prowess has been humiliated as the war has exposed its poor organisation, defective kit and inadequate leadership.

Victory for Ukraine is not guaranteed and the West must not falter in its support if the country is to press home its advantage.
