Sarah Greene, the former host of 80s children's TV show Saturday Superstore, has shared details of her new love.
It is the close friend of her late husband and former Radio 1 Breakfast Show and Top Of The Pops presenter, Mike Smith.
Sarah was married to Mike from 1989 until he died in 2014, from complications following major heart surgery. He was aged 59.
An exclusive in the Mirror revealed that Ms Greene is now in a relationship with a close pal of her husband, a man she says reassured her at the start of their relationship, saying "remember, I love him too”.
Eight years on from Mike's death, the ex-Blue Peter and Saturday Superstore host says she is now dating one of Smith’s oldest friends, ex-British touring car champion Robb Gravett.
Sarah, 64, even claims Mike helped enable their relationship.
She told the My Time Capsule podcast: “I sort of know Mike is pulling so many strings in my life.
"He has undoubtedly been responsible for me meeting my beloved who was one of his oldest friends, who waited a certain amount of time but did keep leaving messages on the answering machine. I thought he was just being kind.
“Then I got a message almost saying ‘for God’s sake, Greeno, Robb is trying to make contact with you because he actually wants to take you out, not because he’s kind.
"So will you just get off your arse and go and answer the phone next time it rings!’
"And lo and behold, a whole new conversation started. I’m sure, and Robb is very sure, too, because it’s a very strange situation.
“I remember being terribly worried and saying to this dear man who I’d known for all these years ‘isn’t it strange coming into the house and seeing all these pictures everywhere of Mike?’
“He said ‘No, no, it’s not strange. It’d be strange if they weren’t there. And remember, I love him too.’”
Mike and Robb ran the Trakstar team that won the 1990 British Touring Car Championship.
According to Companies House, Sarah and Robb, 65, are listed as being involved with land transportation firm Z Charge, set up last year.
They were also pictured together in 2018, but it’s not known when they got together.
Sarah is also involved with Mike’s company Flying TV which provides aerial filming services.
Convinced Mike guides her with that too, she says: “Taking on his company, there was no doubt that’s what he would have wanted me to do.
"There’d be mornings I’d wake up almost with a tap on the shoulder saying ‘Right, have you checked the..’ It was very strange but wonderful.”
