The children of a beloved radio presenter have paid tribute to her "true legacy".
The funeral of Cassie James took place in Ormskirk today and in the order of service her family said she will "never be forgotten" and forever "in their hearts". Cassie from Southport was given six months to live in July last year after enduring a long battle with cancer.
The 61-year-old was first diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in August 2016 before medics found a lesion in her brain which they think was a result of the breast cancer. Halfway through her breast cancer treatment, she was also told she had melanoma on the sole of her foot.

The mum-of-two was given the news that her chemotherapy would be stopped following leg surgery in May 2022. During her battle with cancer, Cassie continued to work as a volunteer radio presenter for Southport's community radio station, Mighty Radio.
She died on January 8, 2023, and is survived by her two children Stacey and Jonathan. Speaking to the ECHO on January, 13, Stacey said her mum died "exactly how she wanted to" and "never stopped fighting till the end".
The order of service said: "We are honoured and touched by all the beautiful words for mum. It is wonderful to see how many lives she touched and how many people she helped. She leaves behind a true legacy, one that will never be forgotten and will forever hold a piece of her in our hearts."
