The BBC’s Children in Need is back again for another year, and the Rickshaw Relay has also made a reappearance.
On Monday October 17, the team will be cycling through Sunderland, before finishing their day’s journey in Durham.
Countryfile presenter Matt Baker MBE will also return, and he joins a team of “five incredibly inspiring young people, all of whom have been supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects”, the BBC Children in Need website explains.
The team will take turns to travel part of the journey with the challenge ending on Friday, October 21.
But what exactly is Matt Baker’s Rickshaw Relay? Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Rickshaw Relay?
As the name suggests, participants will relay a rickshaw, each cycling a segment of the route to raise charity for the BBC’s UK charity, Children in Need.
This year, Matt Baker MBE, and a team of five young people, all of whom have been supported by BBC Children in Need, will take on the relay-style ride over five days.
Each rider will take a section of the journey, travelling through their hometowns and visiting places across the UK that hold a particular significance for them along the way.
What are the dates of Matt Baker’s Rickshaw Relay 2022?
The Rickshaw Relay will take place between Monday, October 17 and Friday, October 21. This year, in a first for the challenge, BBC Breakfast will be live with Mr Baker and the team every morning from 6am, where the audience will be able to follow their journey.
Viewers will also be able watch a special one-off documentary on BBC One on Tuesday, November 15, which will share the team’s remarkable stories and celebrate the history of the Rickshaw Challenge while raising money for the charity, as part of its 2022 Appeal.
