Two young children dance on railway tracks as a train thunders past at more than 125mph while two adults watch in shocking CCTV footage.
The boys were seen playing on a level crossing, pushing and shoving each other as the ten carriage service approached at high speed.
As it gets nearer one seems to seek cover while the other brazenly waves at passengers, seemingly oblivious to the extreme danger he is in.
Moments after the Great Western Railway train has gone two women run onto the tracks after the young boys.
As one of the adults chases one of the children, the other is seen shoving a child onto the crossing.
The terrifying footage was shared by Network Rail to show the dangers of level crossing, which they urged people not to use as “playgrounds”.
The 30 second-clip was taken in Wantage Road level crossing in Grove, Oxfordshire, on 4 July just before 5pm.
On social media, @networkrail wrote: "Level crossings can be very dangerous and are not a playground!
"PLEASE remind your children about the danger of playing near the railway."
Network rail said the shocking footage was discovered after the driver of a 125mph express train "recently reported applying the emergency brakes after seeing children playing on the track."
Alison Kramer, Network Rail’s community safety manager, said: “The behaviour of the children captured by CCTV is really shocking and reckless.
“The railway is not a playground and what they are doing is extremely dangerous.
“It is particularly disappointing to see this sort of mindless behaviour particularly when we work so hard alongside the British Transport Police in engaging with local schools and the community to educate people about how to behave safely when near the railway.
“We sincerely urge parents in this area to speak to their children and ensure they understand the risks of trespassing and ask the public to report any trespass incidents they witness.”
CCTV footage was previously released showing two teenage girls doing handstands at a level crossing.
The incident happened in Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire, on a stretch of track used by trains travelling at up to 80mph.
Police said the girls showed a "blatant disregard for their own safety and others".
Several people were also filmed standing on the track to take photographs, with one person lying down to pose.
Network Rail route director Gary Walsh said: "This behaviour at Nature Reserve level crossing is absolutely shocking.
"The railway is not a photo opportunity and it is never safe to stop or hang around on the tracks.
"The two girls doing handstands are completely oblivious to the dangers they are putting themselves in.”
