To help tackle holiday hunger at a time when the cost-of-living is higher than ever, children aged 16 and under can access a hot or cold meal for just £1 at a leading supermarket. Children can dine out for a quid at Asda cafes this summer as part of a new initiative by the retailer.
Asda has announced that, in a bid to keep children fed over the summer holidays, they’ll be able to grab a meal at their in-store cafes seven days a week, with no minimum adult spend requirement.
The brand revealed the £1 meal deal for Scotland last month, further rolling it out to Wales and England in a follow-up announcement today.

The Kids Eat for £1 initiative is available all day, every day from July 25 until September 4 in England and Wales, as long as the Café is open. And dependent on the store, a hot meal or cold meal, or both, will be on offer.
Baby food is also available as part of the initiative, with little ones able to enjoy a free pouch of Ella’s Kitchen baby food in their local Asda Café.
An Asda spokesperson said: “We know that families can find the summer holidays tough, and our customers are telling us that this year more than ever, they’re concerned about holiday hunger. With that in mind, we are so pleased to be able to offer children’s meals for just £1, with no minimum adult spend, to ensure that those who would normally rely on a school meal aren’t left without.”
Asda also recently launched a freezer filler offer which will certainly help with quick and easy meals over the summer break. The supermarket discount sees shoppers pick up five items for £5 , and with some products costing £2.50, it’s a potential saving of up to £7.50.
