Children 'banned' from asking Prince Charles personal question during school visit

After their fairytale wedding and welcoming their first son Prince William, Prince Charles and Princess Diana embarked on a huge tour of Australia.

The Australian people could not wait to see the couple and their young son and turned out in their droves to greet them.

The tour included stops to meet people ranging from top dignitaries to small school children.

On one engagement they visited Alice Springs School of the Air to speak with some of the school children, where pupils are taught over broadcast radio due to them living in the vast Australian outback.

For a bit of fun it was decided that Charles and Diana would field some questions from the school kids by radio, reports MyLondon.

According to the documentary, Diana Diaries: Diana & Charles Take Their First Royal Tour To Australia and New Zealand, by American weekly magazine People the school children were told not to ask, "Do you sleep in a double bed?"

Luckily, the children were on their best behaviour and didn't broach the prickly subject and all of the other questions were answered with good humour.

Around 30 years after the successful tour, William returned to Australia on a royal tour of his own with his wife the Duchess of Cambridge and a baby Prince George in 2014.

There they followed in Charles and Diana's footsteps by visiting Uluru and posing in the exact same spot as the couple 31 years on.

It was thought that Kate and William would return to Australia in 2020.

It was reported the couple would visit towns devastated by bushfires in Victoria and the New South Wales coast earlier that year and meet with firefighters.

However, any travel plans were cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
