TWO 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old have been arrested and charged after a "stolen" car crashed on the A1 near Tranent yesterday morning.
Police Scotland say the trio fled the scene but were later apprehended.
The incident took place at the Bankton Junction of the A1 at about 11.30am and caused major traffic disruption.
It has today been revealed that, in the early hours of Sunday, a home on Knight Crescent, in The Wisp area of Edinburgh, was entered and, according to Police Scotland, a car was stolen.
The youngsters were arrested in connection with this incident too and were taken to hospital.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.20am on Sunday, 22 December, 2024, we received a report of a housebreaking and car being stolen in the Knight Crescent area of Edinburgh.
"At 11.40am on Monday, 23 December, officers were made aware of a stolen vehicle having crashed on the A1 at Bankton Junction, Tranent.
"Three people left the scene and were traced a short time later.
"The males, aged 17, 15 and 15, have been arrested in connection with both incidents and enquiries are ongoing."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service, previously said: “We received a call at 11.48am to attend a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the A1, Tranent. We dispatched three ambulances.
"One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and two patients were transported to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.”
Police have not disclosed the make and model of the car but eye-witnesses have said it was a Mercedes.
