Child’s death at Glasgow Queen Elizabeth Hospital faces fatal accident probe

A probe into the death of a child will take place next year.

Freya Murphy passed away at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on July 28 2018 and her exact age and the cause of her death are not known.

But, the circumstances surrounding what happened are due to be examined at a fatal accident inquiry at Glasgow Sheriff Court next year.

The probe is set to begin in January 2023., while a preliminary hearing took place today before Sheriff Andrew Mackie.

Fiscal Richard Hill today/yesterday told the court: "I am aware there are a couple of outstanding matters that may be required to be clarified and productions to be obtained.

"All parties are focused on the issues and what they are likely to be.

Lawyer Alan Rodgers was at the hearing acting on behalf of Freya's parents Martin and Karen Murphy.

Mark Fitzpatrick, representing the NHS, told the hearing that representation will "perhaps" be sought for two additional clinicians.

Lawyers Grant Watson and Laura Donald were also in attendance for two doctors involved in the case. Sheriff Mackie fixed a further preliminary hearing for November.
