Child rushed to hospital after horror fireball crash on Glasgow street with four others injured

A child has been taken to hospital after a car they were travelling in crashed into a bus before bursting into flames on a Glasgow street. Emergency services were called to Cowcaddens Road shortly after 6am on Thursday following reports of a two vehicle smash.

We previously told how hero workers from CalMac Ferries, who had been on the single-decker coach, raced to free two trapped men from the badly damaged motor. A third man reportedly suffered a serious cut on his head and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has confirmed that a child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow while four adults were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The extent of their injuries is not currently known.

An eyewitness told how all the car's occupants were thankfully freed from the wreckage just seconds before flames began pouring from the engine of the badly-damaged motor. The city centre road remained closed while fire crew extinguished the powerful blaze which sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had three appliances in attendance while their crew helped administer first aid at the scene.
