Child cancer ward at QEUH will re-open more than two years after it was closed due to water infections

The child cancer ward on the QEUH campus will reopen on Wednesday, two-and-a-half years after it was closed because of infections in the water system.

In 2018, the Record told how bacteria in the water supply had led to children becoming ill.

It was discovered that children, including Milly Main, had died from hospital-acquired infections. An inquiry into the construction of the campus is ongoing.

But today NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde will announce ward 2A/2B is to reopen after an £8.9million refurbishment, including replacement of the ventilation systems.

It retains the name Schiehallion.
