A child has been airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) after colliding with a car outside a school.
Emergency services rushed to Hall Drive in Middlesbrough on Thursday afternoon following reports of a "serious collision" involving a child and a car. The incident occurred close to Outwood Academy Acklam in the Acklam area of the town.
Paramedics were called just after 2.40pm and tended to the youngster at the scene. The patient was then transported by air to the hospital in Newcastle for further treatment.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 2.42pm this afternoon to reports of a road traffic incident on Hall Drive, Middlesbrough. We dispatched two specialist paramedics and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) by air for further treatment."
The road was closed in both directions by police while the emergency services treated the child. It remained sealed off while the Accident Investigation Unit carried out its work. The incident brought traffic in the area, including school buses, to a standstill.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Police were called at 2.45pm today, Thursday, June 30, to a report of a serious collision involving a car and a child on Hall Drive, Acklam. Air ambulance colleagues attended the scene along with other emergency services. The child has been airlifted to hospital for treatment. Officers remain on scene whilst enquiries continue."
