Chiefs vs. Saints: Travis Kelce, Samaje Perine combine for exciting play

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had to resort to trickery against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5 to help the defending Super Bowl champions convert a long first down in the second quarter.

Backed up because of a failed trick play and penalty, Kansas City faced a 3rd and 22 on New Orleans’ 44-yard line.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit Kelce with an accurate pass over the middle, and when the star tight end saw veteran running back Samaje Perine open for a lateral, he pitched the ball to the former Cincinnati Bengal to get Kansas City close to the first down marker.

Check out this video of the exciting play, which was posted to Twitter by the NFL’s official account:

The Chiefs are set to receive the second-half kickoff, and will look to build on their early lead over the Saints during the third and fourth quarters on “Monday Night Football.”
