Chiefs TE Travis Kelce spoke about embracing new challenges in AFC Championship Game

The Kansas City Chiefs have had their share of struggles during the 2023 season, especially on offense. Through all of its inconsistencies, the unit has shown significant growth and can advance to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada with a win over the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.

Tight end Travis Kelce is no stranger to overcoming adversity and facing challenges. On Friday, he spoke candidly with reporters about Kansas City’s latest challenge to win an AFC Championship on the road.

“It’s a challenge to find new ways to have success. I think that’s what this year has brought for me, is that obstacle,” Kelce explained. “Figuring out how I can get the best out of myself, figuring out how I can get the best out of my teammates, and all at the same time, being a great leader. Bringing that energy, showing the young guys the type of determined mindset you’ve got to have week in and week out. You know what, man? I love that challenge.”

Kelce’s mindset for wanting to take on more challenges stretches beyond the team and games on the football field. He would describe its importance in everyday life, not backing down from tests.

“There are certain things that give you challenges in life — you’ve just got to be appreciative that you’re getting tested because not everybody gets those opportunities,” Kelce said. “Especially when you get to do it with a group of men and women that you can rally together with and really prove to yourselves what you’re made of.”

The Baltimore Ravens have shown that they are the top team in the league during the regular season. The challenge for Kansas City to knock them off for a return to the Super Bowl will have Kelce and his teammates fired up for Sunday.
