Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has earned weekly honors from the NFL after his dominant performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.
Kelce recorded six receptions for 115 yards and three touchdowns, including what would be a game-winning 17-yard touchdown reception, which came on a play the team had also used to beat the Chargers last season. It marked his 33rd career 100-yard receiving game, passing former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski for the most such games in NFL history by a tight end.
Kelce became the third tight end in the Super Bowl era with two games of three-or-more touchdown receptions in a single season. He joined former Raiders TE Todd Christensen (1983) and Pro Football Hall of Fame TE Kellen Winslow Sr. (1982) as the only two to accomplish that feat.
This is just the second time that Kelce has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week in his career. He earned his first weekly award in Week 15 last season. He’s become just the fifth tight end to ever earn multiple AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe (3), Alge Crumpler (2), Jimmy Graham (2) and Rob Gronkowski (2). With seven games left to be played this season, it’s certainly possible that Kelce could earn another award as the season continues.
