Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is officially listed as questionable vs. Lions

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their official ruling on the status of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce following his injury during practice on Tuesday.

Kelce is being listed as questionable on the Chiefs injury report ahead of Thursday’s Week 1 matchup with the Detroit Lions. The status update is a positive sign that the swelling in his knee is not as bad and is rapidly improving. Initial reports ruled out any ligament or structural severe damage in the knee, diminishing long-term fears.

The injury reportedly occurred during red zone drills on Tuesday and has been evaluated by many as a severe bone bruise. The questionable listing provides a chance for Kelce to see the field against the Lions if there is improvement in the next 24 hours.

Kelce is an integral part of the Chiefs’ offense, as he led the team in receptions last season and is a well-known favorite target of Patrick Mahomes. Kelce finished the 2022 season with 110 catches for 1338 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, leading all tight ends in the NFL.
