Chiefs star Travis Kelce has a challenge for Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels

Super Bowl LIX is set, and it’s a rematch from two years ago when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. That means a rematch between the Kelce brothers, Jason and Travis, although Jason is now retired.

To get their third Super Bowl appearance in eight seasons, the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders. Philadelphia and Washington had split the regular-season series when Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels passed for five touchdowns in a Week 16 upset.

Unfortunately for Daniels, Washington turned the ball over four times in last week’s NFC championship game, and the Eagles made them pay each time with a touchdown en route to a 55-23 victory.

Despite the comfortable victory, Jason Kelce realizes Philadelphia will have to deal with Daniels for years to come, and the Commanders are no longer pushovers.

“Unfortunately for Eagles fans, this is gonna be something that’s gonna be a pain in the a– for a while over there with Jayden Daniels and the Dan Quinn Commanders,” Jason Kelce said in this week’s episode of “The Heights” podcast with Travis.

Travis Kelce then responded with a challenge for Daniels.

“We’ll also see if, you know, there have been a lot of quarterbacks that have one really good year as their first year,” Travis Kelce said. “We’ll see, Jayden; that’s a challenge to you, brother. I want to see it; I know I want to see it. I’m a fan.”

He’s not wrong. There have been a lot of “one-hit wonders,” including a former Washington quarterback, Robert Griffin III.

While no one can predict the future, Daniels is not Griffin. He’s more talented, a much more advanced passer, has a phenomenal work ethic, is a relentless competitor, and is already a respected team leader.

After Sunday’s loss to the Eagles, Daniels said he woke up Monday still “sick” over the game. Daniels has plenty of motivation this offseason, and it’s doubtful he’s worried about Kelce’s “challenge.”
