Chiefs snap counts: Skyy Moore hits new career high

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 30-27 in Week 11, with some big performances from key depth players.

It was one of the rare occasions in the NFL where the Chiefs’ offensive and defensive players saw the same amount of snaps. That’ll leave both units in good shape for their upcoming afternoon tilt with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.

What else can we learn from the weekly snap numbers? Here’s a look at how the snaps came down in Week 11:

Observations

  • With players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman out a variety of offensive pass-catchers saw a higher percentage of snaps than usual. Guys like Jody Fortson and Noah Gray were a big part of the game plan.
  • Skyy Moore set a new career-high for offensive snaps with 27. His previous high was 26 back in Week 9, but this week he contributed more than he had in any game. He recorded five receptions on six targets for 63 yards.
  • Kadarius Toney played just 14 snaps on offense before exiting with an injury. Clyde Edwards-Helaire played just five snaps before his high ankle sprain.
  • Jerick McKinnon saw more snaps than Isiah Pacheco this week, but Pacheco was the more effective rusher in Week 11, recording over 100 rushing yards for the first time in his career.
  • Marcus Kemp played four offensive snaps and Cornell Powell played just a single snap on offense. Most of their contributions came on special teams, playing 17 and 15 snaps respectively.
  • Justin Reid and Nick Bolton were the only defenders to play 100% of the defensive snaps this week. L’Jarius Sneed had to miss a series when spotters pulled him from the game.
  • Frank Clark played 52 snaps in his return from suspension. While he didn’t record any sacks this week, he at least seemed to be fit for a healthy dose of snaps.
  • Mike Danna was highly productive despite playing less than 50% of the defensive snaps. He recorded two sacks during the game.
  • Juan Thornhill played 33 snaps before exiting the game with injury, allowing Bryan Cook to play the most defensive snaps he’d seen since Week 4.
  • Jack Cochrane, Nazeeh Johnson, Geron Christian and Prince Tega Wanogho were the only players to play just special teams snaps outside of the specialists. Deon Bush led the team in special teams snaps with 21.
