Chiefs Share Incredible Slo-Mo Video of Patrick Mahomes’s Latest Behind-the-Back Pass

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has spent much of his six-year career bending the limits of what's possible for an NFL signal-caller. Beyond his pair of Super Bowl titles and quintet of Pro Bowl seasons, he's accumulated an impressive highlight reel of no-look and otherwise improvised passes.

However, one Rubicon Mahomes has never crossed is throwing a behind-the-back pass during a regular season game. In Feb. 2020, then-Kansas City quarterback Chad Henne told James Palmer of NFL Network that Mahomes was lobbying coach Andy Reid to include it in the Chiefs' offense, but nothing has come to fruition in the past three years.

Still, Mahomes puts the move to use in practice, as demonstrated in a clip tweeted by Kansas City Saturday morning.

As if it were the most casual activity in the world, Mahomes took the snap, dropped back, and flipped the ball behind his back to second-year wide receiver Skyy Moore.

Whether Mahomes has the chutzpah to try such a thing in the regular season remains to be seen, as the Chiefs' opener against the Lions looms on Sept. 7.
