L’Jarius Sneed went and had his best season in a contract year and hoped to get a long term deal out of it. But the Chiefs were in a situation where they had to choose between him and All Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. They chose to invest in Jones, opting to place the franchise tag on Sneed.
Once slapped with the tag, the Chiefs could by time to either work out a deal with him, keep him on a one-year guaranteed salary for this season, or trade him. With the Chiefs in a bit of a cap crung, they have opted for the third option.
They are sending their best cornerback to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a third round pick in 2025.
Trade: Chiefs are finalizing a deal to send franchise CB L’Jarius Snead to the Titans, per league sources.

Now the Chiefs will be without their best cornerback, but be able to get his $20 million salary off the books, potentially allowing them to sign a free agent while also allowing them to sign their upcoming draft class.
