Texas Longhorns pass rusher Trey Moore struggled early in the 2024 season after transferring from UTSA, but he made several crucial plays since the start of the SEC Championship Game. The Kansas City Chiefs could add Moore to their pass rush rotation with a Day 3 selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
Moore is an explosive athlete with quick and controlled footwork that helps him quickly exchange gaps. In Texas’ last three games against Arizona State, Clemson, and Georgia, Moore amassed ten pressures, including three sacks.
Moore uses his long strides as part of a euro step to counter into the B-gap. He also fires through the B-gap with pure speed or drives offensive tackles up the arc before countering inside. Moore’s spin is his go-to pass rush move and ranks among the best in the class. He also uses rips, swims, and two-handed swipes.

Moore lacks the bend in his waist to win around the outside consistently. However, his relentless motor helps him gradually wear down offensive linemen and chase down quarterbacks. Moore’s power doesn’t pop every game, but he sometimes breaks out speed to power and bull rushes offensive linemen into the pocket.
Moore struggles to hold the point of attack in the run game because of his 6’3″, 245 lb. frame’s limitations. His closing burst, speed, and blazing motor make him a threat as a backside run defender. He uses his speed to pull away from blockers and makes plays in pursuit.
Moore projects as a rotational pass rusher who sees snaps on passing downs. His improvement throughout the 2024 season suggests his development will continue in the NFL.
