Chiefs S Justin Reid shares his thoughts on resting players for Thursday Night Football games

The topic surrounding Thursday Night Football games’ impact on players’ preparation time and recovery has been discussed for years. The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 6 against the Denver Broncos with their second Thursday night game following the opening night loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 1.

Chiefs safety Justin Reid is one of the many players who have suggestions on helping to make the Thursday night transition smoother. During Tuesday’s press conference, Reporters suggested a possible extra bye week for those teams, and Reid revealed his thoughts on the situation.

“Yeah, I think that would be nice,” Reid said. “If there was a way to set it up, it might be extra biweekly to be able to split them in half. That way, get a little bit extra rest, and maybe it is better for everyone’s body. But at the end of the day, you know, the cards are on the table as they are, and we gotta go play.”

The Chiefs are expected to be a prominently featured team since winning Super Bowl LVII and having All-Pro stars such as Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, and Travis Kelce. The popularity and success of the franchise will constantly put them in marquee television spots, so the team is well aware of the spotlight to perform at their best.
