Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reflects on the birth of his daughter: ‘Brittany crushed it’

The extra days off ahead of the Divisional Round were essential for the Kansas City Chiefs as they began their three-peat postseason journey. The additional time was even more critical for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who, with his wife Brittany, welcomed their third child, Golden Ray.

“Brittany crushed it,” Mahomes said during his press conference on Tuesday. “It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl to the family and see how my other kids reacted to her, and have a baby sister and stuff like that. So it’s been a lot of fun.”

Mahomes indicated that he was still keeping up with all the Wild Card playoff games while awaiting the arrival of his second daughter. “It was cool that football was on TV while I was in the hospital,” said Mahomes. “So I was able to watch a little bit.”

The Chiefs earned the top seed in the conference and had a bye week, which made things very convenient for the delivery and for having the reigning Super Bowl MVP present with his family.

“It was cool that we got the bye just because you can kind of really focus on just being at the hospital, being in the moment,” said Mahomes. “It’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms experience. And you don’t forget that stuff.”

Mahomes is a husband and now father of three while leading his team into another postseason, seeking the unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.
