Over the weekend, news broke that the Dallas Mavericks would be trading Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a North Texas native, took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the blockbuster deal.
Mahomes has long proclaimed his Mavericks fandom and regularly attends games, which is sure to have made losing a fan-favorite player even more difficult for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
Dončić is considered one of the top players in the NBA and helped rocket the Mavericks back to relevance with two playoff appearances and an NBA Finals appearance since his arrival in Dallas in 2018.
Take a look at Mahomes’ initial reactions to the Dončić trade from Twitter:

Later, Mahomes seemed to come to terms with the Mavericks’ future, and posted a more optimistic assessment:

Don’t expect Mahomes’ mood to be affected when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9.
