Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is rooting for Texas Rangers in World Series

The NFL season is quickly approaching midway, with teams understanding their squads’ strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, football intensifies, the boys of summer in Major League Baseball gearing up for their championship finale, better known as the World Series.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes could’ve pursued baseball over football at one point in his life but has since taken more of the ownership route with his current stake in the Kansas City Royals. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player grew up in Texas and has rooted for their baseball club as a youth, so this year’s World Series has interest. He discussed his fandom during Wednesday’s press conference with reporters before practice.

“I was a big Rangers fan when I grew up, especially those high school years when they were getting to the World Series and [lost] two of them,” Mahomes explained. “I was able to go to some of those games, so I was a Rangers fan. I guess it’s my team if the Royals aren’t in contention. So I’m happy for them to get to the World Series. Shane Buechele is a big Rangers fan as well. So I texted him when they got there. So it is cool to see. And hopefully, they go out and win at all.”

The World Series gets underway on Friday night, so there could be some supportive social media posts from Mahomes during the game.
