Chiefs’ Marquez Valdes-Scantling Responds to Brutal Drop on Potential Go-Ahead TD vs. Eagles

The Chiefs were on the wrong end of numerous dropped passes on Monday night against the Eagles. One specifically noteworthy drop came off the hands of wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a potential go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Valdes-Scantling was seen understandably slamming his helmet in frustration after the drop, and on Tuesday, he took to social media to send a message.

“I’m grateful, I’ll be better. And I appreciate the criticism and the support. God put this on me because he knew I could handle it. Gratitude for everything that comes with it,” Valdes-Scantling posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Valdes-Scantling had a tough night overall, failing to haul in any of the three targets that came his way. The Chiefs were led in receiving by fellow wideout Justin Watson, who caught 5-of-11 targets for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Travis Kelce remained among the most reliable targets for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as he caught 7-of-9 targets for 44 yards and one touchdown in the 21—17 loss to Philadelphia.
