Chiefs K Harrison Butker reclaims franchise record with 62-yard field goal

13 seconds? How about 12?

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to play their best against the Buffalo Bills when there is little time remaining on the clock. In the divisional round last year, they needed just 13 seconds to set Harrison Butker up for the game-tying 44-yard field goal. This time around, they needed just 12 seconds to set up a game-tying, record-breaking 62-yard field goal. A 19-yard catch from Jerick McKinnon and a nine-yard grab from Travis Kelce was enough to get Butker in range.

Butker now holds the franchise record for the longest field goal at 62 yards. Perhaps the most impressive thing is that this comes in Butker’s first game back after missing basically the first five weeks of the season with an ankle sprain suffered in Week 1. He comes back to set the franchise record just six days after Matthew Wright made a crucial 59-yard kick against the Raiders to set the record.

At least Butker let Wright enjoy that piece of history for a few days. It’s safe to say, even with Wright’s record-setter the week prior, the Chiefs Kingdom is quite pleased to have Butker back in the lineup for this one.
