Chiefs HC Andy Reid shares his thoughts on Jaylen Watson’s recovery progress: ‘Doing so well’

The Kansas City Chiefs provided a positive update regarding cornerback Jaylen Watson early Friday morning on his potential return to the lineup this postseason. The starting cornerback was designated to return from injured reserve as he recovers from a broken fibula.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters about Watson’s improved progress and chances that he could return to game action sooner rather than later.

“The way he (Jaylen Watson) was going about it – I get to see it every day, the progress that he’s making or at least get an update on it, and he’d been doing so well that I figured that he’d be out there to give a whirl,” said Reid. “I didn’t know what I would see out there and I’m still not sure exactly other than the times I’ve looked at him, he was doing – he was moving around pretty good. (I’ll) be curious to see how he feels here after this practice and into tomorrow.”

Watson recorded 32 tackles and six deflections through the first six games of the regular season before suffering the injury in October. The former Washington State Cougars standout was praised for his improved play as a starting corner alongside Trent McDuffie.
