Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters on Wednesday about the latest update on injured wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown. According to the legendary coach, who continues to juggle stars in and out of the lineup, the news appears positive.
“He’s getting close,” said Reid. “He’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, but he’s got to visit with the doctor to make sure he gets clearance there.”
Brown’s potential return is contingent on a positive meeting with his surgeon for final clearance on the status of his shoulder. If he passes the tests, he can return to the lineup before the Chiefs begin the postseason.
The veteran receiver underwent successful surgery for his injured SC joint in September and was initially expected to miss the 2024 regular season. When healthy, he is an explosive option that the Chiefs only got a glimpse of during his lone preseason outing in August against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He played last season with the Arizona Cardinals, but Brown’s best seasons came during his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2021, he finished with 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
