Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides update on Rashee Rice’s status after injury vs. Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs hung on for their fourth consecutive victory to start the season, but it wasn’t without a significant loss to their offense. Rashee Rice’s injury immediately appeared severe as he was ruled out shortly after leaving the field on Sunday.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed Rice’s injury status after initial examinations with reporters via Zoom on Friday.

“As far as Rashee’s injury goes, we’re still testing him on things here, so I don’t have a definite for you right now, but we will get it to you,” said Reid. “He’s not going to be available, obviously, this week. We’re going to make sure we get all the tests that need to be done, done, and then we’ll let you know on that.”

Rice was ranked among the best receivers in the league before injury. He had 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns heading into Week 4.

Rumors are circulating that Rice may have suffered a torn ACL, but no official word has been released. The Chiefs are hoping for good news with the additional testing still taking place.
