Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides injury updates after Week 2 win over Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs seemed to escape their Week 2 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on “Thursday Night Football” without suffering any major injuries.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke to reporters after the game, providing an update on the players that did get banged up during the game. Outside of one player who was unable to return to the game, most of the stuff appears to be “ticky-tacky” in nature.

“As far as the injuries go, Mike Danna sprained his calf,” Reid said. “Then, really, for the most part, that was it. Hardman hurt his ankle on the one deep one. (Marquez) Valdes-Scantling had a little bit of a glute. Justin Watson on the onside kick hurt his shoulder just a little bit.”

Reid emphasized that each of the three receivers came back in the game. Danna, however, was ruled out of the game rather quickly with his calf injury. He had a big hit on Chargers QB Justin Herbert, which seems to be the one that caused him some discomfort during the end of the game.

As for the other injuries, Watson was listed on the injury report this week with a shoulder injury, so this seems to be a reaggravation of sorts. Hardman looked to be in quite a bit of discomfort early, but he came back in to make a key catch later in the game. Valdes-Scantling was targeted frequently with seven targets on the night, but he only caught two passes for 13 yards. It’s possible that his glute might have been contributing to some focus drops.

All-in-all with 10 days until their next game, the Chiefs should be able to get some much-needed rest before the road trip to Indianapolis in Week 3.
